The design of Burj Khalifa was inspired by Islamic architecture, particularly the Hymenocallis flower, a desert flower with a symmetrical structure. Architect: The Burj Khalifa was designed by Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), the same firm that designed the Willis Tower in Chicago. Builder: The construction was led by Samsung C&T, a South Korean company, in collaboration with Arabtec and Besix.Materials Used: Over 330,000 cubic meters of concrete, 103,000 square meters of glass, and 31,400 metric tons of steel were used. Wind Resistance: The structure was tested to withstand winds up to 240 km/h (150 mph), making it one of the most stable skyscrapers in the world. Temperature Differences: The temperature difference between the base and the top of the tower can be as much as 15°C (27°F)!
